Markowitz-Zach Brock Quartet last performed at the Bach on April 28, 2013.

Phil Markowitz credentials span a cornucopia of jazz, from his early association with Chet Baker and Toots Thielemans, through his respective 20 and 15 year association with Bob Mintzer and David Liebman.  Phil has been artist in residence in major conservatories and universities throughout the world. His home base is the Manhattan School of Music where he is a professor in the graduate and doctoral divisions.  "Phil is one of the most sensitive, lyrical and inventive piano players of all time."  -Chet Baker.

Heralded by the Chicago Tribune as the “great bright hope for jazz violin” and by Downbeat Magazine as a Rising Star pick 2005-2011 in the violin category, ZACH BROCK is one of the most virtuosic and emotive leaders of contemporary jazz violin. “Add Brock to the small list of players finding ways to bridge the potentially hazardous chasm between the violin and jazz. Recently awarded a Carnegie Hall residency, Brock is an intriguing young artist with a bright future.” - Don Heckman, LA Times
