Charnett Moffett "is an utterly extraordinary jazz bass player who can touch anyone who loves music, regardless of instrumentation or genre.” Launched at eight NYC top jazz venues, The Bridge, his 12th CD as leader, showcases Charnett's "uncanny ability to play melody and harmony while evoking sound that sometimes is like a trumpet, a sitar or a band." "He gets more out of a solo bass than would one expect or imagine." Featuring 20 tracks by Moffett, The Beatles, Charles Mingus, McCoy Tyner, Wynton Marsalis, Thelonious Monk and Adele, the CD became a #1 most added release to the JazzWeek radio chart. "I wanted to express who I am, carry on the tradition of the greats who preceded me, and also contribute to the art form by challenging myself to construct my own standard of solo bass excellence."

Considered a veritable bass legend, Charnett has already had a most distinguished career in jazz, appearing on over 200 recordings. His father, Charles, was a drummer with the Ornette Coleman Trio in the 1960s (Charnett's name is a tribute to both men). He first appeared on a recording at age seven with the Moffett Family Band. Then at age 16 he left Juilliard to join the Wynton Marsalis Quintet, before starting his non-stop career working with innumerable icons of music including Art Blakey, Ornette Coleman, McCoy Tyner, Tony Williams, Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Hancock, Dianne Reeves, Arturo Sandoval, Anita Baker, Stanley Jordan, Harry Connick Jr., David Sanborn, Branford Marsalis, and Bette Midler.
